2012 Chateau Haut Simard St Emilion Grand Cru

£38.00

Château Haut-Simard is a family-owned estate run by the Vauthier family, also proprietors of Château Ausone, La Clotte, Moulin Saint-Georges, and Château Fonbel. Located in Saint-Émilion, the estate has undergone significant transformation since 2008, including extensive replanting and renewed vineyard management.

Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification. The wine is then aged for around twelve months in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak (around 30%), with the remainder sourced from barrels previously used for one vintage at Château Ausone.

Tasting Note: Aromas of black cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, and dried herbs, with subtle hints of leather and graphite. The palate is supple and finely balanced, with polished tannins, fresh acidity, and layered dark fruit supported by savoury complexity. Elegant and poised rather than powerful, it finishes long and refined.

Origin: St Emilion, Bordeaux, France

Alcohol: 13.5%

Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
