2013 Domaine Henri et Gilles Remoriquet Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Bousselots'
This venerable family-run estate, a longstanding presence in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, holds 10 hectares across Nuits-Saint-Georges (Village and Premier Cru) and Vosne-Romanée, having been passed down through four generations.
The 1er Cru climat of Bousselots lies in the northern reaches of the Nuit-Saints-Georges appellation, a short distance to the south of Vosne-Romanée. The sandy and gravelly soils here give structure and depth, and set it apart from the neighbouring AOC appellations.
Despite 2013 getting off to a rather cold and frigid start, a drier September provided a small degree of redemption, giving wines of sensational balance of fruit with the potential for longevity in the cellar.
Tasting Note: Ready for drinking now, tertiary notes of leather, truffle, and game mingle alongside redcurrant, raspberry and black cherry, with macerated prunes bringing up the rear.
