2013 Rusden Sandscrub Shiraz
Hand-picked, hand pruned old vines, open fermented, basket pressed and matured on the lees in new French oak for four years – then a further four years in bottle before release.
More exuberant than Penfolds Grange and we think equally complex.
A wine to enjoy in stages over 24 hours as it develops and changes in the decanter, glass and on the palate. Released only in exceptional years.
Tasting Note: Boasting intense aromas of charred oak, smoky meats and anise, the nose further reveals its rich complexity with hints of dark cherry and blackberry. On the palate, its symphonic blend of cherry-cola, black plum, charcuterie and wood spice creates a lingering persistence that will only be enhanced with age.
Origin: Barossa, Australia
Blend: Shiraz
