2016 Boekenhoutskloof Syrah
Boekenhoutskloof are responsible for some of the most iconic wines to come out of South Africa thanks to winemaker Marc Kent’s desire to push the boundaries of wine making. The farmstead was established in 1776 but in 1993 was converted into a vineyard and winery. The name means ‘ravine of the Boekenhout’, Boekenhout being the indigenous Cape Beech tree prized for furniture making.
Tasting Note: An intricate bouquet of ripe berry fruits, black olives, aromatics, and spices herald a rich, round palate. Complex yet delicate, evoking a Rhône-like style with balanced acidity and sinewy tannins for a robust structure. The finish lingers with whispers of cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, and a hint of garrigue.
Origin: Swartland, South Africa
Alcohol: 14.5%
