2018 Mouchao Dom Rafael Tinto
Experience the rich complexity of 2018 Mouchao Dom Rafael Red. Crafted with care from Aragonêz, Trincadeira, Castelão & Alicante Bouschet grapes grown in well-drained alluvial, red, and clayey soils, this vintage offers a unique flavour profile.
The hand-selected bunches are trodden twice daily prior to fermentation, which lasts 4-6 days. This young wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in autumn in large wooden barrels with capacities of 5,000L and a blend of new and used barrels (up to 25%). After filtration in mid-winter, it is aged undisturbed for 12-15 months. Once bottled the wine is given an additional 6-9 months before release.
Tasting Note: A harmony of ripe, lively aromas of red and black fruit, mingled with dark chocolate and minty spices, this Dom Rafael boasts a full-bodied density from its wood aging. Its soft, delicate fruit and velvety texture provide an exquisitely fresh, lasting finish.
