2019 Antinori Tignanello

£140.00

The Tenuta Tignanello estate is in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the gently rolling hillsides between the Greve and Pesa river valleys.

Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet) and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region that didn’t use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It’s produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Tasting Note: Its nose offers exceptional complexity with notes of red fruits, strawberries and pomegranate that give rise to delicate aromas of apricots and peaches in syrup accompanied by elegant sensations of vanilla, dried flowers, chocolate, and pleasant spicy sensations of nutmeg. Its bouquet is completed by notes of coffee, caramel, and aromatic Mediterranean herbs. A graceful and mouth filling palate presents silky, vibrant tannins and imparts liveliness, sapidity and a lengthy flavor profile. The aftertaste is characterized by notes of roasted coffee and bitter chocolate.

Origin: Tuscany, Italy

Marchesi Antinori

Antinori has become Tuscany’s - arguably Italy’s - pre-eminent wine producer, establishing an important presence in Piedmont, Umbria, Puglia and Lombardy.

The Antinori family has been producing wine in Tuscany for six centuries and exporting it for four – that’s 26 generations of uninterrupted family ownership, making them the 10th oldest company in the world still in the hands of the same family. They moved to Florence in the early 13th century, and remain central figures in the fabric of the city.

Marchese Piero Antinori sums up the company’s outlook thus: “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
