2019 Astral de Château Puybarbe
Château Puybarbe is situated at the highest elevation of the Côtes de Bourg appellation looking over the Gironde estuary on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The 41-hectare vineyard comprises predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and is cultivated according to sustainable philosophies.
Tasting Note: "Dark chocolate, blackcurrant, black cherry, tobacco and liquorice on the nose. Punchy and forward, the flavours burst out of the glass and linger on the palate; chewy strawberry, wild raspberry and spiced blackcurrants abound with a slightly salty tang to the fine tannins. This has excellent clarity and definition, maybe not so layered or complex, but delivers crisp and characterful glass of wine. Still youthful and tight though, wait a year or so." - 91 Points, Decanter
