This exquisite 2020 Chateau Musar Hochar Père et Fils Red is often hailed as the ‘second’ wine of Chateau Musar. While it carries echoes of the flagship style, its unique vineyard source, blend, and ageing process set it distinctly apart.

Crafted from grapes grown in a single vineyard near the Bekaa Valley village of Aana, this wine benefits from deep, limestone-rich soils and mature bushvines averaging 30 years of age. The limited yields of 20–30 hl per hectare ensure concentrated flavours and exceptional quality, reflecting the remarkable terroir of the Western Bekaa.

The winemaking process begins with the careful fermentation of Cinsault, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon in cement vats, followed by 6 to 9 months of ageing in French oak barrels sourced from the Nevers forest. The wine is then blended—unfined and unfiltered—to capture the true character of each vintage before being left to mature in bottle for several years and released a full four years after the harvest.

Not only does Hochar Père et Fils Red offer a richly textured mouthfeel and a complex array of flavours, but its vegan-friendly production and traditional unfined style also appeal to discerning collectors and casual enthusiasts alike.
