Domaine Francois Raquillet

Eleventh-generation vigneron François Raquillet took the reins of his family’s Mercurey estate in 1990, having worked alongside his father since 1984. He and his wife Emmanuelle promptly shifted focus to quality over quantity by reducing yields, introducing premium oak barrels, and hand-sorting every grape. Across their fourteen hectares on the Côte Chalonnaise, they tend clay-limestone soils with integrated pest management and a dedication to ecosystem balance, alternating tillage with cover crops to nurture healthy vines.

Their daughter Jeanne joined in 2018, bringing fresh energy to a domaine already renowned for its rich, precise reds and supple whites. Harvest remains wholly manual, with each cluster rigorously inspected by a six-person team. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or premium barrels, and the wines - especially their Mercurey Premiers Crus - are prized for depth, elegance and a purity that reflects both terroir and the Raquillet family’s unwavering attention to detail.
