2021 Ormanni Chianti Classico Riserva Borro del Diavolo DOCG
In Tuscany, a borro is a brook — and it is one such stream, winding through the stony hillsides of the Chianti Classico zone, that lends its name to Ormanni's most ambitious wine. The Borro del Diavolo Riserva is born from a single-minded pursuit of the best: only the finest Sangiovese grapes, harvested in the first ten days of October from the Borro del Diavolo and neighbouring Montignano vineyards, both set on the same south-facing stony ridge that concentrates heat and drains to perfection.
Tasting Note: Deep ruby in colour, with an intense and balsamic nose of dark cherry, dried herbs, and a subtle minerality from those stony soils. On the palate it is structured yet harmonious, with elegant tannins, bright acidity, and a long, fruit-laced finish that rewards patience and food alike.
Food Pairing: Game, roasted meats, aged Tuscan cheeses.
