2023 Skipskop Syrah
From a cooler‑climate single block in Napier, Skipskop’s 2023 Syrah spent 12 months in 2nd and 3rd‑fill 225 L French barriques to reflect Rhône‑style elegance.
Fewer than 700 bottles were crafted, showcasing ripe red‑currant, spice and balanced tannins with a lively acid backbone.
Winemaking: Destemmed and fermented naturally, then matured 12 months in two 225 L second‑ and third‑fill oak barrels.
Pairing Suggestions: Perfect with grilled aubergine dishes, slow‑cooked lamb shoulder or minted lamb chops with new potatoes.
Tasting Note: Vibrant aromas of raspberry, black pepper and violet lead to a supple palate of cranberry, white pepper and smooth fine‑grain tannins.
