2023 Niepoort Acores Reserva Branco

For many years, Dirk Niepoort regularly visited the Azores, especially the island of São Miguel, until one day, he also made it to the island of Pico. It was love at first sight: surrounded by unique stone wall enclosures that shelter the vineyards from the Atlantic, the vines create wines with a salinity that drew us to the island. This World Heritage Site embodies the persistence – verging on stubbornness – that is needed to produce wine in such difficult conditions. It came as no surprise that Dirk, with his restless spirit, decided to take the first steps to produce wine in the Azores. 

Tasting notes: This volcanic white opens with zesty lime and nectarine on the nose. The palate reveals a vibrant mix of citrus and stone fruit, layered with savory, salty hints and a subtle nuttiness. A delicate spiciness adds depth, all balanced by a refreshing acidity that lingers beautifully on the finish. A mineral-driven wine with great complexity.

Pairing suggestions: grilled fish, seafood risotto, white meats. Vegetarian suggestions: pasta with cheese.
