2025 Montagnac Nostum Picpoul de Pinet

£14.50

The Montagnac cellar was created in 1937 in the Montagnac commune. Nowadays its soil stretches on 7 communes all along the Thau lake at the mountainous foothills of the right shore of Hérault. The climate is Mediterranean, dry and hot during summer, more temperate next to the sea.

The Picpoul legend: an old legend says that the Picpoul grape was so browned and sweet at maturity that poultry on the shore of lake Thau enjoyed this sweet varietal when the wine-harvest was coming. That’s how the name Pique Poule was born which has been modified subsequently into Piquepoul which gave its name to the AOC Picpoul de Pinet.

Tasting Note: Delicate and inviting on the nose, with fragrant hawthorn blossom, a whisper of anise-like fennel, and soft white peach. From the very first sip, the palate comes alive — fresh and vibrant, with a surprising depth and intensity that fills the mouth. Beneath it all runs a fine, precise mineral thread.

Region: Picpoul, Languedoc Roussillon, France

Blend: Picpoul de Pinet

Cave de Montagnac

The Cave des Vignerons Montagnac Domitienne is one of the Hérault's great historic cooperatives — a story of alliances: between people, between terroirs, and between generations of winemakers who believed that together they could achieve something exceptional. Founded in Montagnac in 1937, the cooperative has grown through a series of meaningful partnerships, absorbing the expertise of Usclas-d'Hérault, Tourbes, and Loupian, before welcoming Terroirs de la Voie Domitienne in 2019 — itself a union of seven wineries spanning Poussan, Gigean, Cournonsec, Fabrègues, Montbazin, Balaruc, and St-Bauzille-de-Putois.
