2025 Nals Margreid 'Hill' Pinot Grigio

£22.00

What sets the “Hill” Pinot Grigio apart is its origin on grey clay-sand soils rich bathed in warm Mediterranean sun tempered by the cooling breeze. Ideal for lovers of crisp Italian white wines seeking both approachability and depth.

The grapes are harvested by hand. Afterwards, the clarified must is fermented for around three weeks in stainless steel tanks. Before being bottled, the young wine is aged on the lees for a further five months.

Pairing Suggestions: This Pinot Grigio’s zesty acidity and mineral backbone make it a perfect match for whipped salt cod fritters or grilled sardines. Vegetarian options include mushroom risotto with fresh herbs or grilled vegetable skewers drizzled with lemon-thyme vinaigrette. Its versatility also shines alongside creamy cheeses or light seafood pasta.

Tasting Note: A refreshing Alto Adige DOC white that showcases bright citrus and ripe orchard fruit, underpinned by a distinct mineral core. Harvested by hand from vineyards atop a sunlit 50-metre hill south of Magrè, this Pinot Grigio delivers remarkable purity, balance and finesse.

Nals Margreid

Nals Margreid’s heritage stretches back to 1764, when the Campi estate first laid roots on the site of today’s winery. In 1932 Nals Winery was founded, and in 1985 it joined forces with Margreid Winery to form the cooperative we know today. Over nearly three centuries, 138 dedicated wine-growing families have nurtured 160 hectares of vineyards across the Adige Valley and South Tyrol, honouring time-tested traditions while embracing sustainable practices.

Renowned for Alpine freshness and true terroir expression, Nals Margreid blends Mediterranean warmth with mountain-cooled nights. From hand-tended vines on chalky gravel soils to careful analysis of microclimates, each vintage reflects harmony between climate, soil and vine. The result: Italian white wines of precision, minerality and elegant depth.
