Monviert is family owned and champions their homeland. Explore Friuli with two of their indigenous varieties, Friulano and Schioppettino.
The region’s namesake white grape, Friuliano is a joy in all occasions. Subtle tropical flavours with a mediating unripe chestnut acidity and a nose of garden flowers.
Schioppettino is an ancient red variety, dating back to 1282, that was very nearly lost to Phyloxera in the 19thcentury. Roughly translating as “gunshot” or “little crack” this sure to set things off with a bang. A pure expression of cherries from red to black and laced with a burnt sugar bitterness, I love this food with charred barbecue meats and Mediterranean veg.
