2018 A A Badenhorst Family Red Blend, South Africa
This is the Secateurs Red Blend's big brother. The blend varies from vintage to vintage but usually contains Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Matured for 16 months in used oak 4000L barrels. Definate ageing potential here but already drinking well. The aromas are brooding but with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume and black cherries. The palate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. The finish is dry with well spread tannins ending with savoury and currant flavours.
