Lindores Abbey Distillery MCDXCIV (1494) Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 46.0% (20cl)

£18.50

Lindores Abbey Scotch Whisky traces its roots to the Tironensian monks of Lindores Abbey, otherwise known as the “Church by the Water,” in 1494. Their journey to deliver whisky today - the first in over 500 years - has taken over two decades and an immense amount of patience.

Aged in a selection of Bourbon Barrels, Wine Barriques, and Sherry Butts, this Single Malt has been distilled using Fife barley, crafted through the distillery's unique ‘sister’ pot stills, and bottled in-house.

Long wash fermentation period coupled with an unusual sister spirit stills set up produces a malt of remarkable character for its age. The Sister Spirit Stills enhance and refine the wonderful flavours captured in the long fermentation period, through additional copper contact.

Nose: Elegant, soft, mellow vanilla, caramel notes playing with orchard fruits and sweet pear drops. Reminiscent of toffee apples.

Palate: Smooth with a creamy texture and a perfect balance of mellow vanilla, dried fruits, citrus touches with a hint of spicy notes and a pleasant lingering finish.

Finish: Medium length, delicate lingering finish.

Alcohol: 46.0%

Lindores Abbey Distillery

The Lindores Abbey has a long and rich history, stretching back to 1191. Its doors opened to kings such as David II of Scotland and Edward I of England, as well as the renowned Robert the Bruce. Notable figures like William Wallace and three loyal knights made their pledges to Bruce within the Abbey's sacred walls, while many other important Scottish members sought solace and eternal rest within its grounds.
