Dedicated to the Father of Japanese Whisky, Masataka Taketsuru, this Pure Malt is a blend of Nikka's two single malts - Yoichi and Miyagikyo.
The nose has soft yellow pear, toasted coconut and vanilla, ripe pineapple and wispy, grassy smoke. The palate has the precision and balance of a samurai sword. Amidst the gorgeous tropical fruits is a soft salty butter, pineapple acidity and blossom tree florality that is distinctly Miyagikyo in style. This dram lingers a long time in the mouth, turning to creamy coconut, earthy vanilla and gentle smoke on the finish. Utterly delicious, and a fitting tribute to the Nikka founder.
