Port Charlotte SC:01 2012 Sauternes Cask Islay Single Malt Whisky
The latest release in the Port Charlotte Cask Exploration Series is also the first to feature 100% Islay grown barley, peated to 40ppm. Distilled in 2012, this beautiful whisky is matured in a combination of sherry butts, 1st and 2nd fill American whiskey barrels and finest sweet Sauternes Wine casks from Bordeaux.
Bottled at 9 years old, the culmination of these efforts is a classic example of all that’s great about Port Charlotte:
Mellow, floral gorse hints are complimented by honeyed coconut and fudge before opening into the classic Port Charlotte sticky-sweet BBQ peat smoke.
