2010 Spinifex La Maline
Known for their use of traditional winemaking equipment, including old-fashioned basket presses and open-topped fermeters, the Spinifex winery is one of the best small producers in the Barossa. This is one of their finest reds, crafted from Shiraz grown high up in the Eden Valley and fermented along with a tiny drop of the white Rhone grape Roussanne. The result is a wine with awesome complexity, its aromas developing in the glass through black tea, charred meat, green pepper corn and woodsmoke. Medium bodied with intense, supple red fruit and a herby edge.
