2003 Château de Malle Sauternes Grand Cru Classé
Records of vines in Malle trace back to the 15th century, with the earliest reference of sweet wines from 1666. Following on in 1855, the classification of Château de Malle as a 'Sauternes Grand Cru Classé' attests to the excellence of the sweet whites from Malle.
The 28 hectares of Sauternes de Malle grapes are harvested traditionally by hand in multiple passes, with each berry only selected when it has reached the perfect level. Typically, up to five selections may be needed in a given year, producing a yield of 15 hectoliters per hectare.
Tasting Note: Spice, peach and honey with occasional elements of almond. Light golden hue with very good legs in the glass.
