Le Soula Rouge 2008 is a beautiful expression of mountain-grown Roussillon fruit, crafted from old vines perched high in the Fenouillèdes foothills of the Pyrenees. This biodynamic red blends Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache Noir into a wine of tension, depth, and effortless elegance. It speaks of purity and place, balancing Mediterranean warmth with a fresh, alpine lift that makes it both serious and superbly drinkable.

This 2008 vintage shows why Le Soula has become one of the most respected names in the region. The combination of old vines, granitic soils, and meticulous biodynamic farming gives this wine remarkable vitality and precision. Winemaking:

Hand-harvested between 22nd September and 9th October, the 2008 Le Soula Rouge was vinified using whole bunches and native yeasts to preserve natural character. Maceration lasted from 11 to 29 days, with gentle extraction to capture the purity of fruit. Ageing took place over 21 months - 44% in new 500-litre demi-muids, 23% in older barrels, and 33% in tank - to enhance complexity while maintaining freshness. No fining and only a light filtration before bottling ensure a truly unadulterated expression of this unique terroir.

Pairing Suggestions:

Perfect with roast lamb, braised venison, or wild mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aubergine gratin or lentil stew with herbs.

Tasting Note:

Expressive aromas of black cherry, thyme, and wild herbs lead to a palate of dark fruit, spice, and mineral depth, finishing long, savoury, and refined.
