The 2018 Château Les Hauts de Gadet is a traditionally made Haut-Médoc that delivers textbook Left Bank character at an exceptional price. Showing ripe currant fruit, polished structure and oak structure, it's ready to enjoy now yet built for short-term cellaring.

Winemaking:

Grapes come from 24 hectares of elevated vineyard with vine stocks averaging 35 years, harvested to preserve freshness and varietal clarity. Fermentation follows classic Médoc practice with careful extraction to deliver body without harshness, then the wine is aged for 12 months in 225L oak barrels to add structure and aromatic depth while retaining the varietal fruit from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate follows sustainable viticulture to safeguard the terroir and encourage even ripening.

Pair with roast lamb or a peppered sirloin for a classic match, or enjoy with mushroom bourguignon or a hearty lentil and roasted vegetable stew for a satisfying vegetarian option; mature cheeses also complement the wine’s cassis and oak notes.

Tasting Note:

A lifted nose of blackcurrant and dried herbs leads to a supple palate of dark cherry and currant, framed by vanilla oak and fine tannins that give a long, quietly mineral finish.
