2019 Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir
The new vintage of one of our favourite Pinot Noirs will delight our customers who regard this cool climate Victorian with great affection.
The beginning of the 2019 season was ideal, with ample moisture and steady showers in spring. Calm yet mild weather in November gave way to a successful flowering and fruit set, although yields were lower than typical.
Canopies appreciated rainfall in the first half of summer, yet a dry and warm pattern formed in late January, prompting an earlier-than-expected harvest. Pressured due to time constraints, the winery put in long hours; however, the wines' high quality justified the effort.
100% Wild yeast fermentation followed by 17 months in French oak (25% new). No fining and no filtration prior to bottling.
Tasting Note: The delightful ripe mulberry and dark cherry fruit, balanced with both spice and Burgundian tannin - gives immediate appeal both to devotees of Pinot Noir from the heart of France as well as New World drinkers who are looking for a wine that is not overloaded with ripeness. From vineyards that are a stone's throw from the cool waters of Port Phillip.
Origin: Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Blend: Pinot Noir
