2020 Domaine Badoz Pinot Noir "Cuvée Dédicace à Pierre"
This 100% Pinot Noir has been aged for 18 months in a secret selection of new and used oak barrels.
Jura character abounds here but marries with an elegance more akin to fine Burgundy.
The comparison with Burgundy is made more alluring when you sit in the estate vineyards just outside of Poligny, in the foothills of the Alps. On a clear day one can see the escarpment of the Côte d'Or.
Tasting Note: The initial flavour is that of mixed red fruits with subtle notes of sweet spices reminiscent of mace and nutmeg. The tasting reveals a gentle and warming hit of pepper and progresses its story into subtle floral notes. Although it is open and accessible now, the wine has plenty of aging possibility, just like any fine Burgundian wines a stone’s throw to the West.
