Mas Bertran | Penedès, Spain

Outstanding Spanish Sparkling

Mas Bertran is a spirited family winery where passion, innovation, and respect for nature embody the soul of Penedès, Spain. Born in 2005, its heart remains deeply rooted in tradition and the art of transforming the fruit of the land into exceptional wines.

With an undeniable imprint of Penedès in every bottle, the estate nurtures old vineyards ranging from 37 to 85 years old on deep, clay loam soils that store water and resist drought. Their reverence for indigenous varietals Xarel-lo, Sumoll, Parellada, and Macabeu shines through in both their still and sparkling wines.

A firm customer favourite, and for good reason!

Our Shops: Newlyns & Overton

A message from Mark, the boss

Caviste is all about flavours, stories and conversations.

Whether you are visiting either of our two wine shops, or The Spirits Room, in Overton and at Newlyns Farm, or browsing through our website shop, or phoning through to speak to one of our wine enthusiasts and experts, we want you to look forward to an engaging conversation and enjoy some bottles of gorgeous wine.

We cannot decide whether we are more fond of our customers, our wines, or the producers who make the wines. You are all important to us, and you make our work & lives much more colourful.

Good wine generally implies delicious food, however simple or complex, warm friendships and engaging conversation. Though sometimes a wine can be so brilliant, that you all you want to do is sit quietly in the corner and meditate over the bouquet and flavours within. The dry Rancio from our friends in Maury is one such wine that I have decided to keep in my fridge on a permanent basis, since it will last for at least two months once opened.

Do sign up to our offers and invitations to tasting and events. I think we are a little unusual in that we prefer to meet all our customers in person, rather than hide behind our website. Our wine suppers, tastings, and dinners are at the heart of the business and they are where the customer and producer can meet, hear and discuss, often over a scrummy meal to match the wines on show. We the most exciting Autumn Programme to date. Please have a browse.
